SRMC announces reduction in staff

 WELLINGTON,Kan. - The Health Care Authority Board of Wellington authorized SRMC management to proceed with a reduction in staff.

The changes were made after careful consideration was given to preserving services SRMC provides to the community, and were made after receiving input from the medical staff. 
SRMC President & CEO Les Dean said “The cuts were necessary and will have minimal impact to patient care.” 
The reductions were effective immediately. 

New CEO named for Sumner Regional Medical Center

WELLINGTON, Kan - Les Dean, has been named as the new President and CEO for Sumner Regional Medical Center. 
SRMC Laboratory Manager Les Dean has been appointed by the Health Care Authority Board as the President & CEO Designee during the remainder of current interim CEO Barry Harding’s term, ending March 31, 2017.  Mr. Dean will assume duties as of April 1, 2017. 
Mr. Dean received his Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology from Wichita State University in 1986.

SRMC welcomes new Podiatrist

WELLINGTON, KS, August 2, 2016 - Sumner Regional Medical Center welcomes our new Podiatrist, Anthony Elliott, DPM to our Outpatient Clinic.

Dr. Elliott graduated from Des Moines University and has recently relocated to Kansas. He joined Dr. Thomas Lyman’s podiatry practice, Walnut Valley Foot Specialists, in Winfield, KS.

Dr. Elliott will be at SRMC on the first and third Fridays of the month. His first day at SRMC was Friday August 19th. Appointments can be made through the Walnut Valley Foot Specialist office at (620) 221-4443.

Hospital town hall meeting

Sumner Regional Medical Center and the Kansas Hospital Association are hosting a Hospital Town Hall Meeting tonight (April 25) at 6:30 p.m. At the Wellington Rec Center, 202 S. Jefferson.

Speakers will include Terry Deschaine, SRMC Trustee; Dr. Larry Anderson from the Sumner County Family Care Center, and Jessica Lucas from the KHA.

Attendees will learn more about how SRMC, the local economy and County residents will benefit from expanding Medicaid/KanCare in Kansas.

On the latest "Show and Shel with Shelley Hansel," Sleep Technician, Ralph Shields is the guest. He discusses what all is involved when someone comes in for a sleep study, as well as some of the different problems the study can detect.

SRMC "Pink Ladies" receive service pins

WELLINGTON, Kan. - The SRMC Auxiliary held a luncheon on April 11 in honor of National Volunteer Week. Chief Nursing Officer Darlene Cooney & Auxiliary President Nancy McNett awarded individual "Pink Ladies" with their service pin for the amount of hours worked in 2015. All volunteers worked 4,207.75 hours total in 2015, 227,967.75 hours since 1971.
